The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has recently announced the release of “The National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program: FEMA Accomplishments in Fiscal Year 2011“.

In less than three months, individuals and communities throughout five states and the District of Columbia will practice “Drop, Cover, and Hold On”, the recommended response in the event of an earthquake, during the first ever Great SouthEast ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday, October 18,  2012 at 10:18 a.m. EDT.

The presentations from the 2012 National Earthquake Conference and EERI Annual Meeting are now available online.  The conference was held in Memphis Tennessee on April 10-13, 2012, and was a joint effort of FEMA, the US Geological Survey, the NEHRP Consortia (CREW, CUSEC, NESEC, and WSSPC), and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute.

On August 14-16, 2012, CUSEC will host a leading edge workshop in Hoffman Estates, Illinois at Sears Holdings Corporation to enhance public and private sector coordination and communication throughout the CUSEC Member and Associate States.
