Registration is now open for the 2016 National Earthquake Conference (NEC), scheduled for May 4-6, 2016 in Long Beach, California. The quadrennial NEC brings together hundreds of geoscientists, engineers, insurance regulators, building officials and emergency management professionals to discuss advancements in earthquake hazards, mitigation, preparedness and education. The 2016 conference will focus on advancements since the 2012 and build a national strategy for earthquake risk reduction and resilience.
The 2016 NEC is being coordinated by the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), in partnership with the Cascadia Region Earthquake Workgroup (CREW), CUSEC, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Northeastern States Emergency Consortium (NESEC), Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC), US Geological Survey (USGS), and the Western States Seismic Policy Council (WSSPC). CUSEC Executive Director Jim Wilkinson serves on the executive planning committee for the conference.
