CUSEC, along with the Northeastern States Emergency Consortium (NESEC), the Western States Seismic Policy Council (WSSPC), and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and more than 25 States and Territories, participated in the 2015 National Earthquake Program Managers Meeting May 5-8, 2015 in Charleston, South Carolina. The annual meeting allows State Emergency Management Earthquake Program Managers to interact and share ideas, as well as hear about lessons learned following recent earthquakes, receive new training, and work to strengthen the Nation’s resilience against earthquakes under the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP). NEHRP Secretariat Mr. Jack Hayes addressed the group at the beginning of the meeting.
During the meeting, CUSEC presented special recognition awards to several senior Earthquake Program Managers who have contributed to earthquake risk reduction over the last two decades. These individuals include Mr. Douglas Bausch (FEMA), Mr. Bob Carey (Utah), Mr. Mike Mahoney (FEMA), Ms. Tammie D. Wells (South Carolina), and Mr. Cecil Whaley (Tennessee).
Also at the meeting were NEHRP partners the Applied Technology Council, the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC), and the US Geological Survey (USGS). Meeting notes and proceedings will be posted on www.eqprogram.net as they become available following the meeting.
