On March 29, 2012, CUSEC Executive Director Jim Wilkinson participated in a Congressional briefing entitled “Faults in the East – New Madrid Seismic Zone and Recent Virginia Earthquake – Understanding Risks”. The briefing discussed efforts to understand earthquakes in the central and eastern U.S. and to reduce risks to life, property and infrastructure.The caucus was held at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. Other panelists included David Spears, Virginia State Geologist, J. Wright Horton, US Geological Survey, and Chuck Langston, Director of the Center for Earthquake Research and Information.
