CUSEC would like to congratulate Mr. Brock Long on his recent appointment as Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Long was the Director the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) and led numerous disaster response and recovery efforts, including response during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. During his tenure at AEMA, Mr. Long was an active member of the CUSEC Board of Directors, as well as the chairman of the National Emergency Management Association’s (NEMA) private sector committee. According the official FEMA news release,
“Administrator Long comes to FEMA with almost two decades of emergency management experience, in both the public and private sectors. As director of Alabama’s Emergency Management Agency, he served as the state coordinating officer for 14 disasters. Additionally, Administrator Long’s most recent experience in the private sector adds a unique perspective, as we continue to engage the whole community in our mission.
“Administrator Long will lead an agency of 16,000 employees across the country, supporting state, local, tribal, and territorial officials as they prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate against natural and man-made disasters.”
