Dallas Area Earthquake Planning & Awareness Workshop

September 13, 2018 | Grand Prairie, Texas

CUSEC, in partnership with FEMA and the Texas Division of Emergency Management, is hosting an earthquake planning and awareness workshop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on September 13, 2018. The workshop will provide local government, emergency management, and other community stakeholders such as NGOs and the private sector, with an understanding of earthquakes hazards, associated risks, and planning and mitigation strategies to reduce potential impacts. During the workshop, participants will learn from nationally-recognized earthquake subject matter experts about:

  • Earthquake activity in Texas and frequency and potential for damaging earthquakes;
  • How damaging earthquakes may affect critical infrastructure and potential impacts to citizens and government;
  • Unique challenges emergency management and responders face during earthquake response and recovery (and what to do about it); and
  • Resources and tools available to support earthquake planning, mitigation, and community resiliency.
