The Central United States Earthquake Consortium (CUSEC) including the eight state Emergency Management Agencies of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee present CAPSTONE 14 - a three-year scope of planning and preparedness activities that are designed to strengthen partnerships between public and private sector entities in response to a catastrophic earthquake occurring within the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ).
CAPSTONE 14 will begin with a private sector workshop on August 14-16, 2012, at Sears Holdings Corporation in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, to enhance public – private coordination and communication throughout the eight-state region. During the workshop, a series of outcome-based breakout sessions will be conducted where public and private partners will work together to establish shared protocols for critical issues.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the participants will establish a regionalized standard from these public-private collaborative efforts and form a foundation for joint emergency management, interoperable communications, and disaster information exchange towards community resiliency. Additional events include a table top exercise in 2013 and a functional exercise among the eight CUSEC states and their private sector partners in 2014.
Workshop Target Audience:
- Private industry with a vested interest in integrated disaster management response with public emergency managers
- Private sector seeking to establish collective capabilities with public sector partners for trusted information sharing, critical preparedness issues, security/operations, and response/recovery activities
