State Emergency Management Agency Information
Alabama EMAThe Mississippi Emergency Management Agency mission is to ensure that Mississippi is prepared to respond to emergencies, recover from them, and mitigate against their impacts.  MEMA is divided into five offices:  Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, Recovery, and Support Services.  MEMA has nine districts throughout the state with an area coordinator assigned to each district as a liaison between the county emergency operations centers and MEMA.

State Geological Survey Information
Alabama GSThe Office of Geology is the component of the Department of Environmental Quality responsible for research into the surface and subsurface geology, paleontology, and mineral resources of Mississippi, regulating the permitting of mines and the reclamation of surface-mined land, and administering the Mississippi Digital Earth Model (MDEM).  The geological knowledge collected is applied directly to the benefit of the people and economy of the state through the publication and distribution of maps and reports to a wide range of users. Geology is the basis of the environment. Information collected by the Office of Geology research into Mississippi’s geology is vital to nearly every area of Department of Environmental Quality responsibility.

State Department of Transportation Information
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is responsible for providing a safe intermodal transportation network that is planned, designed, constructed and maintained in an effective, cost efficient, and environmentally sensitive manner.  In order to provide the framework for accomplishing MDOT's mission, a set of seven goals has been developed. These goals are multi-modal and comprehensive in scope and include accessibility and mobility, safety, maintenance and preservation, environmental stewardship, economic development, awareness, education, and cooperative processes, and lastly finance.
