The purpose of the CUSEC Operations Officer Working Group is to increase the ability of CUSEC Member States to coordinate their interstate response and early recovery efforts to deal with a New Madrid Seismic Zone event. The operations community is involved in a broad range of cross-functional response activities. By working together, sharing information, and addressing operational concerns prior to an earthquake, the states will be able to work together more effectively following an earthquake and also identify pre-earthquake operational issues and shortfalls that need to be addressed at higher levels. The operations community, more than any other functional area, is central to achieving the CUSEC Board’s Multi-State Coordination priority.
